EQUINE APPRAISALS

Why Hire an Equine Appraiser?

Hiring an equine appraiser is essential for a myriad of reasons. A professional equine appraiser provides an unbiased valuation of property, taking into account various factors pertaining to horses such as breed, age, training, health history, conformation, disposition, performance history, income produced, market trends, discipline, et cetera. An expert assessment based on facts is crucial, and sometimes legally required, for buyers, sellers, owners, banks, insurance companies, government entities, and businesses alike.

Situations requiring equine appraisal include:

  • Donation

  • IRS compliance

  • Insurance purposes

  • Litigation and settlements

  • Business consultation

  • Tax audits

  • Loan and interest estimates

  • Bank collateral

  • Purchase and Sale of Equines

  • Injury or Death of Equine

What Is an Appraisal?

An appraisal is a determination of the monetary worth of the interests, benefits, and rights inherent in the. ownership of property. It can be used to estimate the present, past, or future value of an equine investment. An appraisal is not a precise measurement or a guess - it is a relative estimate based on supporting facts and information.

An appraisal is conducted in three distinct parts: the Initial Contact and Discovery Call, the Inspection of Property, and the Estimation of Value (the writing of the appraisal). Appraisals can also include the solution to an appraisal problem, including the highest and best use of property, length of time to dispose of property, et cetera.

What Appraisal Services Are Offered?

KJ Equine Appraisals offers three types of appraisal reports for the valuation of equines: the Summary Appraisal Report, the Restricted-Use Appraisal Report, and the Self-Contained Appraisal Report. Appraisal rates vary by type of report used, travel costs, research-related expenses, and the scope of work of an assignment. Appraisal rates are NEVER based on the final determination of value, the attainment of a stipulated result, or the occurrence of a subsequent event directly related to the value opinion. KJ Equine Appraisals always abide by the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

KJ Equine Appraisal Services also include expert witness testimony. Appraisals may be used in court cases, including divorce, bankruptcy, insurance settlements, and contract disputes. KJ Equine Appraisers are also available for consultation for any equine appraisal-related issues or questions, and for second opinions of other conducted equine appraisals.
